In elementary school, it’s not uncommon for children to grow frustrated with a new syllabus or more studying. Get Familiar with your Child’s Hobbies

In elementary school, children become curious about new things, changing their hobbies and interests frequently. He or she may be interested in dance or music this month, and enamored with sports the next. Whatever your child’s hobbies, it is important to support and encourage new interests as they come along. With time, they’ll find something that suits them well. 

Interact with Teachers and Coaches

Keeping in touch with your child’s teacher, coaches and instructors is a helpful way to stay up-to-date on how your child is doing. It’s understandable for your child to keep secrets, especially when it’s associated with their class performance, bullies or other important aspects. Communicating with teachers and other adults at school can lead to a new understanding of your child’s life at school. 

Find Common Interests

Your child’s hobbies and interests may fluctuate, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a few things that are common between two of you. Watch an old favorite movie or cartoon together, read their favorite book with them or find a game you can play together. Whatever it is, common ground you can return to with your child will help you stay connected over time. 

Listen to your Child

Above all things, make sure you are ready to listen to your child. By listening to them, you show you care about staying close with them. Parents are a vital to a child’s progress. Your guidance may not always be listened to right away, but it will always play a necessary part for your child.
